Bukit Panggal Power Station (Brunei)

Weather…

Bukit Panggal Power Station is a modern combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plant located in the Tutong district. Commissioned in 2008, it is operated by Berakas Power Company. The plant is renowned for its high thermal efficiency, as it utilizes waste heat from its gas turbines to generate steam, which in turn drives an additional steam turbine. This results in significantly more electricity being produced from the same amount of fuel compared to conventional open-cycle plants. With a capacity of around 130 MW, Bukit Panggal plays an important role in meeting the base-load electricity demand of the national grid. Its efficiency helps conserve the country's natural gas consumption and reduces carbon emissions per unit of electricity generated. Its location was strategically chosen to strengthen the power grid in the central part of Brunei.
