Garopaba
Garopaba, located in the state of Santa Catarina, is a popular destination that blends a robust surf culture with the traditional charm of a fishing village. The town is framed by green hills and a series of outstanding beaches. Spots like Praia da Ferrugem and Praia do Rosa draw surfers from across South America seeking perfectly breaking waves. A major highlight of the region is the presence of Southern Right Whales, which migrate to the calm bays of Garopaba between July and November to nurse their calves. During these months, whale watching from the cliffs or on specialized boat tours is a primary attraction. Away from the surf, the sand dunes of Siriú provide spectacular opportunities for sandboarding. The summer months from December to March are warm and busy, handy for regular beachgoers. However, visitors aiming to see the whales must travel during the cooler winter season. Garopaba is located about 90 kilometers south of Florianópolis and is well-connected via the BR-101 highway.
