St. Lucy's Parish Church (Barbados)

Weather…

St. Lucy's Parish Church stands as the northernmost religious landmark on the island of Barbados. The current structure dates back to 1837, having replaced several previous buildings destroyed by hurricanes, including the Great Hurricane of 1831. Built primarily from local coral stone, the church showcases a classic Georgian architectural style with distinct tropical adaptations. Inside, visitors can find a historic baptismal font that predates the current building. The grounds offer a serene atmosphere, overlooking the rugged northern coastline where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Caribbean Sea. It serves as a spiritual hub for the rural community of St. Lucy and remains one of the island's original six parish churches established in the 17th century.
