Adamjee Export Processing Zone (Bangladesh)

Weather…

The Adamjee Export Processing Zone (EPZ), opened in 2006, is a symbol of Bangladesh's industrial transformation. It is located on the historic site of the former Adamjee Jute Mills in Narayanganj, which was once the largest jute mill in the world and a cornerstone of the national economy. After the mill's closure, the 245-acre site was repurposed into a modern export processing zone to attract foreign investment and boost the country's export-oriented industrialization. Today, the Adamjee EPZ hosts dozens of factories, primarily from the textile, apparel, and knitwear industries. These companies produce for global brands, contributing significantly to Bangladesh's export earnings. The zone has immense socio-economic importance, having created employment for over 50,000 people, predominantly women, thereby contributing to economic empowerment and poverty alleviation in the region. Its infrastructure includes modern factory buildings, a reliable power supply, and its own customs clearance, making it an attractive location for international manufacturers.
