Diraz is a village on the northwest coast of Bahrain. It is of great historical importance, housing some of the country's most significant archaeological sites associated with the Dilmun civilization. The most famous of these is the Barbar Temple, a complex of three temples built one on top of the other, dating back to the 3rd millennium BC. Another important nearby site is the Diraz Temple. In addition to its archaeological heritage, Diraz today is an animated village with a strong Shia community. It was historically a center for agriculture, surrounded by date palm groves. Although urbanization has changed the landscape, community ties have remained strong. The village is located near the Budaiya highway, making it easily accessible from Manama. Diraz is a prime example of Bahrain's ability to blend ancient heritage with modern life.
