The Hamptons
The Hamptons is an iconic summer destination comprising a string of seaside villages like Southampton, East Hampton, and Sag Harbor on Long Island’s South Fork. Known worldwide for its pristine Atlantic beaches, such as Coopers Beach, the area features a unique blend of rural farm charm and high-end luxury. Stately shingle-style mansions hidden behind massive privet hedges characterize the exclusive residential landscape. Cultural life in the Hamptons thrives with numerous art galleries, museums like the Parrish Art Museum, and summer music festivals. The region is also a premier wine-producing area, with vineyards offering tastings of local rosés and Chardonnays. At the very tip of the island lies Montauk, a former fishing village turned trendy surf spot, home to the historic Montauk Point Lighthouse. Access from Manhattan is provided by the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), the luxury Hampton Jitney bus, or via a scenic drive out Route 27. The peak season is during the summer months, specifically from June through August, when the social scene is most active. For a quieter experience, the 'shoulder seasons' of late spring and early autumn offer beautiful weather and much less traffic.
