North Conway
North Conway serves as the ultimate base camp for exploring New Hampshire’s White Mountain National Forest. Located in the shadow of Mount Washington, the highest peak in the Northeast, the town is surrounded by dramatic granite cliffs and dense forests. Echo Lake State Park and Cathedral Ledge offer memorable vantage points and world-class rock climbing just minutes from the main street. The town is equally famous for its shopping, featuring the extensive Settlers Green Outlet Village where visitors enjoy New Hampshire's tax-free shopping status. For a taste of history, the Conway Scenic Railroad runs vintage trains through the rugged mountains from a 1874 Victorian station. Downtown North Conway is home to Zeb’s General Store, a nostalgic landmark filled with local New England goods. Most visitors arrive by car via Route 16, with the scenic Kancamagus Highway nearby offering one of America's best road trips. The best time to visit is October for world-renowned fall foliage, or January through March for skiing at Cranmore or Attitash. In summer, the Saco River is popular for tubing and kayaking, making it a premier year-round family resort.
