Tuebrook is an inner-city district in the east of Liverpool, taking its name from the brook of the same name that once flowed through the area. Although the stream now runs mostly underground, its name lives on in this characterful neighbourhood. Tuebrook is primarily known for its historic architecture, especially Tuebrook House, which is considered the oldest dated house in Liverpool, originating from 1615. Another architectural gem is the parish church of St. John the Baptist, an impressive Victorian church known for its ornate details and imposing presence. The district has a predominantly residential atmosphere, with terraced houses from the Victorian and Edwardian eras. West Derby Road, the main thoroughfare, is lined with a variety of shops, pubs, and takeaways that cater to a lively local community. Tuebrook features an authentic glimpse into traditional Liverpool life, away from the well-trodden tourist paths of the city centre, yet still well-connected for easily reaching the city's famous attractions.
