Hayle, located on the striking coast of West Cornwall, is a town renowned for its glorious industrial past and its spectacular beaches. Once one of the most important industrial sites in the world, Hayle was home to foundries that built massive steam engines for the Cornish mining industry and beyond. The historic harbour and foundry area now forms part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors can explore this heritage at the Hayle Heritage Centre. Today, Hayle's main draw is its three miles of golden sandy beaches, stretching from the mouth of the Hayle River to Godrevy Lighthouse. These beaches, including Gwithian and the Towans, are a paradise for surfers, families, and beach lovers. The Hayle Estuary is an RSPB reserve and a vital spot for birdwatchers, especially in winter. The coast features iconic views of Godrevy Lighthouse, said to have inspired Virginia Woolf's novel 'To the Lighthouse'. Hayle provides a relaxed atmosphere and is a good base for exploring the tip of Cornwall, including St Ives, St Michael's Mount, and Land's End.
