Elloughton-cum-Brough is a civil parish on the north bank of the Humber Estuary in the East Riding of Yorkshire. The parish includes the fast-growing town of Brough and the neighbouring village of Elloughton. The area has a remarkable history. In Roman times, Brough was known as Petuaria, an important ferry port and trading town. Later, in the 20th century, the town became a major centre for the British aviation industry as the home of Blackburn Aircraft, where many famous aircraft were designed and built. Today, Elloughton-cum-Brough is primarily an affluent residential town, popular with commuters working in the nearby city of Hull. Transport links are excellent, with a railway station in Brough offering regular services to Hull, Doncaster, Leeds and London, as well as easy access to the A63 motorway. Culinarily, there is a selection of traditional pubs, restaurants, and cafes. For leisure activities, you can take walks along the Humber bank or visit the North Cave Wetlands nature reserve. The best time to visit is summer to take advantage of the pleasant weather for exploring the surrounding landscape.
