Fulwell is a residential district in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, positioned between Twickenham, Teddington, and Hampton Hill. Historically part of the manor of Teddington, the name is believed to derive from a 'foul well' or a 'full well' located in the area. Significant development occurred at the turn of the 20th century, particularly following the opening of Fulwell railway station in 1903. The most prominent landmark is the Fulwell Bus Depot, originally opened in 1902 as a tram depot for the London United Tramways, featuring a distinctive industrial architecture. The area is predominantly composed of Edwardian and Victorian terraced housing, alongside 1930s suburban developments. Its location on the Thames terrace gravel provides flat terrain, well-suited for the residential expansion that absorbed former market gardens. Today, Fulwell is highly regarded for its suburban feel, proximity to the Royal Bushy Park, and its role as a key transport hub for southwest London.
