Situated just outside London in Hertfordshire, Bushey manages to retain a distinct village atmosphere despite its proximity to the capital. The town is highly regarded for its artistic heritage, intrinsically linked to the Victorian painter Sir Hubert von Herkomer, who established a major art school here in 1883. His legacy is celebrated at the Bushey Museum and in the beautifully landscaped Bushey Rose Garden, a meticulously restored Edwardian park designed by Thomas Mawson. Film and television enthusiasts may recognize parts of the town and the surrounding leafy lanes, as the area has frequently been used as a filming location due to its historic architecture and close access to Elstree Studios. With its independent boutiques, historic churches like St James's, and numerous green spaces leading out towards the Colne Valley, it provides a refined suburban retreat with a strong cultural identity.
