Murchison Falls National Park is a place of raw natural power. The highlight is the moment the Victoria Nile bursts through a rock gap only seven meters wide and plunges 43 meters down. A boat trip to the base of the falls features unforgettable views and the chance to see giant crocodiles and hippos up close. On game drives in the northern part of the park, giraffes, lions, leopards, and elephants can be observed. The diverse landscape ranges from bushland to tropical rainforest in the Budongo Forest, where you can track chimpanzees. Local cuisine is simple and tasty, often featuring fresh fish from the Nile. The best time to visit is from December to February. The park is best reached by 4x4 from Kampala, a journey taking about 5 to 6 hours.
