Abant
Lake Abant (Abant Gölü) is a natural wonder in Bolu Province, situated at an altitude of over 1,300 meters. The lake is ringed by thick forests of pine, fir, and beech trees, creating a spectacular color palette in every season. Abant is particularly famous for its romantic horse-drawn carriage rides around the lake and its peaceful walking trails. The area is a designated National Park, sheltering diverse flora and fauna, including the endemic Abant trout. Visitors enjoy the crisp mountain air and the traditional markets at the park entrance selling local honey, butter, and cheese. In winter, the lake often freezes and the surroundings turn into a snow-covered wonderland. It is best reached by car from Bolu or Istanbul.
