Dili Seaport (Timor-Leste)

Weather…

The Dili Seaport (Porto de Díli) is the historic main port of East Timor, located right in the center of the capital. For decades, it was the country's only international entry point for cargo and passenger ships. With the opening of the new deep-water port at Tibar Bay in 2022, the role of Dili Port has fundamentally changed. Today, it is primarily used for domestic ferry traffic to Atauro Island and the Oecusse enclave, as well as for tourism and recreational boating. The historic waterfront is a cultural meeting point and reflects the maritime history of the city. A comprehensive revitalization of the area is planned to transform it into a modern waterfront promenade with recreational facilities and dining options. Despite its limited depth and capacity for modern container ships, the port remains an indispensable hub for the social and logistical connection of East Timor's more remote areas.
