Sodruzhestvo aktiorov Taganki
The "Sodruzhestvo Akterov Taganki" (Commonwealth of Taganka Actors) is a prominent drama theatre located on Taganka Square in Moscow. Established in 1993, the theatre emerged from a famous schism within the original Taganka Theatre company, led by the renowned actor and director Nikolai Gubenko. The newly formed troupe took up residence in the newer, modern red-brick building of the theatre complex, striving to preserve the classic traditions of Russian psychological theatre while developing its own distinct artistic voice.
Under Gubenko's long-term leadership, the theatre built a diverse repertoire encompassing both classic Russian literature and contemporary plays. The performances are highly regarded for their emotional depth, strong ensemble cast, and thought-provoking social commentary. The venue itself is characterized by its spacious auditorium and modern stage capabilities, which allow for grand, visually striking productions. While the historical divide defined its early years, the theatre established a loyal audience and became a significant cultural institution in Moscow's vibrant theatrical landscape. A visit here offers a profound experience of modern Russian dramatic arts.
