Golescu Manor (Romania)

Weather…

Golescu Manor, located in Golești, Argeș County, is a prime example of Wallachian architecture, blending the Brâncovenesc style with defensive features. Built in 1640 by Stroe Golescu, it served for centuries as the ancestral seat of the influential Golescu family, whose members played pivotal roles in the 1848 Revolution and the formation of the modern Romanian state. The estate functions as a fortified complex, including the manor house, a bell tower, a church, and surrounding walls. Its national significance is further cemented by the fact that Prince Carol I spent his first night in Romania here in May 1866. Today, the manor is the centerpiece of the Museum of Viticulture and Horticulture, one of Romania's largest open-air museums, preserving not only the boyar lifestyle but also the traditional rural heritage of the region across a sprawling 14-hectare park.
