Historical Cemetery of Taboga

The Historical Cemetery of Taboga, located on the 'Island of Flowers' in the Gulf of Panama, is a place of deep cultural and spiritual significance. It is considered one of the most pretty cemeteries in Central America, known for its colorful tombstones and sweeping views of the ocean. The cemetery's history stretches back into the colonial era when the island was a major refuge for pirates like Henry Morgan and later a hub for whaling. Many of the graves are decorated with seashells and lively colors, reflecting the local tradition of honoring death as part of a natural cycle. Famous figures from the island's history, as well as nameless seafarers, have found their final resting place here. The terraced layout clings to the slope of a hill and is accessible only via narrow paths.
