Skopje Zoo

Situated within the lush greenery of the City Park (Gradski Park), the Skopje Zoo is one of the most beloved family attractions in the capital of North Macedonia. Established in 1926, it is one of the oldest zoological gardens in the Balkans. Over its long history, the zoo has undergone significant transformations, particularly in the 21st century, with extensive renovations aimed at modernizing enclosures and improving animal welfare to align with European standards. Today, the 12-hectare facility provides a tranquil escape from the urban bustle. The zoo is home to hundreds of animals representing numerous species from around the world, including elephants, giraffes, lions, tigers, and a variety of primates. It also plays an educational role, raising awareness about wildlife conservation and environmental protection among the younger generations. Strolling through the shaded pathways of the zoo, visitors can enjoy well-maintained green spaces, small lakes, and educational play areas.
