The pyramid rises 45 meters above the forest floor, marking it as one of the tallest pre-Columbian structures in Mexico. Its massive base, covering approximately two hectares, reflects the city's status as a superpower that famously rivaled Tikal for centuries. Since its rediscovery in 1931 by botanist Cyrus Lundell, the site has become a haven for those seeking an authentic archaeological encounter far from the tourist crowds.
