Signal Mountain

Signal Mountain is a prominent peak rising 323 meters above the capital city of Port Louis in Mauritius, serving as a key geographical landmark. Historically, the mountain functioned as a critical signaling station for maritime traffic entering the harbor, utilizing flags and lanterns to communicate with approaching vessels. This strategic vantage point allowed for early detection of ships coming from the Indian Ocean. Today, the summit is home to numerous telecommunication towers and a weather radar station established in 1946 to monitor tropical cyclones.
