Lecciona
La Lecciona is one of the few completely free, wild, and unequipped beaches left in Tuscany, preserving its natural state without rows of sunbeds or concrete structures. Located between Viareggio and Torre del Lago, it lies entirely within the Migliarino, San Rossore, and Massaciuccoli Regional Park. The landscape is characterized by a sweeping expanse of fine, golden sand backed by magnificent, undulating dunes covered in sparse Mediterranean scrub.
Beyond the dunes, a dense, ancient pine forest (Pineta di Levante) stretches inland, providing a striking green contrast to the golden beach and the deep blue of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The vibe here is completely relaxed, authentic, and deeply connected to nature. You won't hear loud beach club music; instead, the soundtrack is the wind rustling through the dune grass and the sound of crashing waves. The water is clear, gradually sloping, and typical of the Versilia coast, but feels cleaner thanks to the lack of development.
It is especially beloved by nature lovers, hikers, and those seeking a quieter, more authentic seaside experience away from the bustling resorts. A dedicated stretch of La Lecciona is also an officially recognized and historically famous naturist (FKK) beach, attracting a respectful and diverse crowd. Visiting La Lecciona requires a bit of effort to reach through the forest, making the arrival feel like discovering a hidden coastal paradise.
