Gachsaran Oil Field (Iran)

Weather…

The Gachsaran Oil Field, located in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province, is one of Iran's largest and most productive crude oil deposits. Discovered in 1928, commercial production did not begin until 1940. The field covers an area of approximately 400 square kilometers and is characterized by its geological complexity within the Asmari formation. Gachsaran plays a fundamental role in the Iranian economy, supplying a significant portion of national crude oil production destined for both domestic consumption and export via the terminal on Kharg Island. The facility includes numerous well sites, collection centers, and desalination plants for processing the extracted oil. Due to its long production history, modern pressure maintenance and gas injection techniques are employed at Gachsaran to keep production rates stable. The field is also an important source of natural gas, produced as associated gas. As a strategic asset, the Gachsaran field is at the center of national energy policy aimed at maximizing hydrocarbon recovery.
