India Gate (India)

Weather…

The India Gate is a prominent war memorial located in New Delhi, situated at the eastern end of the ceremonial Rajpath. It was designed by the British architect Sir Edwin Lutyens and inaugurated in 1931 after ten years of construction. The 42-meter-high structure commemorates over 70,000 soldiers of the British Indian Army who lost their lives during the First World War and the Third Anglo-Afghan War. Its architectural design is often compared to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris and is constructed primarily from red and yellow sandstone sourced from Bharatpur. Beneath the arch stands the Amar Jawan Jyoti, an eternal flame established in 1972 to honor soldiers killed in the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War. Today, the monument serves as a national focal point for ceremonies and remains one of the most visited public landmarks in the capital.
