Bangalore Fort

Bangalore Fort, originally a mud fort founded by Kempe Gowda I in 1537, is a significant historical landmark that tells the story of Bengaluru's origins. Over the centuries, it was transformed into a formidable stone fortress by Haider Ali in 1761 and later reinforced by his son, Tipu Sultan. The fort played a crucial role in the region's military history, serving as a stronghold for the Mysore kingdom during its resistance against the British East India Company.

Though much of the original massive structure has been dismantled over time to accommodate the city's expansion, the remaining portions offer a fascinating glimpse into 18th-century Islamic military architecture. The most prominent surviving feature is the imposing Delhi Gate, characterized by its intricately carved arches and robust defensive design. Inside the remaining fort complex, visitors can also find an ancient Ganapathi temple, illustrating the rich cultural and religious synthesis of the period.
