Alsóörs is located on the eastern edge of the northern shore, offering a unique blend of tradition and modernity. The most distinctive feature of the town is the red Permian sandstone, from which many old buildings and walls were constructed. A highlight is the late Gothic 'Turkish House' from the 15th century, one of Hungary's oldest residential buildings. For nature lovers, Somlyó Hill features a lookout tower with a panoramic view over the Tihany Basin all the way to Siófok. The town is also a center for sailing and hosts numerous cultural and wine festivals during the summer. Arrival is convenient by train or via main road 71. The best time to visit is from May to September, when the beach and the hillside wine cellars are fully active.
