West Bay

West Bay is often cited as one of the most beautiful beaches in Central America. This stretch of coast at the western end of Roatán is characterized by its powdery white sand and calm, crystal-clear waters. What makes it special is that the coral reef begins just meters from the shore, making it a paradise for snorkelers who don't need a boat trip to see marine life. Along the beach, you'll find upscale resorts, top-tier restaurants, and lively beach bars. Visitors can try parasailing, take glass-bottom boat tours, or simply relax in a hammock. The sunsets in West Bay are legendary, drawing crowds to the shoreline every evening. The best time to visit is during the dry season from March to June. West Bay is most conveniently reached by water taxi from nearby West End, providing a short but scenic ride along the coast. Alternatively, there are well-developed road connections to the rest of the island.
