Agios Kirykos is the administrative center and primary port of Ikaria island in the eastern Aegean Sea. The town was established in the 16th century and named after Saint Kirykos, the youngest martyr of the Christian church. Its architecture is characterized by neoclassical buildings arranged in terraces on the slopes overlooking the harbor. In close proximity are the ancient thermal springs of Therma, renowned since antiquity for their therapeutic properties and currently containing radioactive healing waters. The town functions as a vital transportation hub for ferries connecting Ikaria with Samos, Fourni, and the Greek mainland. Cultural highlights include the Archaeological Museum and the Folklore Museum, which document the island's dynamic history from the Geometric period to modern times. The maritime tradition of the region is clearly reflected in the harbor area, which features both traditional fishing vessels and contemporary yachts.
