Bad Herrenalb is located in the Northern Black Forest at the junction of seven valleys leading into the Alb Valley. The town’s history was initiated in 1149 with the foundation of a Cistercian monastery by the Counts of Calw. The atmospheric monastery ruins, featuring the renowned 'Paradies' porch and the historic tithe barn, still define the town center. Following the Reformation, the monastery was dissolved, but from the 19th century onward, Bad Herrenalb evolved into a premier spa destination. Today, it holds a dual distinction as both a climatic health resort and a thermal spa. The mineral-rich waters of the Siebentäler Thermal Baths are utilized for various therapeutic treatments. Geographically, the town serves as a handy base for hiking, notably to the striking Falkenstein rock formation. Bad Herrenalb masterfully blends its spiritual heritage with modern wellness culture and traditional Black Forest hospitality, making it a sanctuary for both wellness seekers and nature lovers.
