Taverny, situated in the Val-d'Oise department, is an elegant town located on the southwestern fringes of the Montmorency forest. Its development was historically linked to the Montmorency family, one of France's most prestigious noble houses, who commissioned the construction of the Notre-Dame de Taverny church in the 13th century. This church remains a premier example of Gothic architecture in the Île-de-France region. In the 20th century, Taverny became strategically significant due to Air Base 921, featuring extensive underground facilities carved out of former gypsum quarries that served as the command center for France's strategic air forces. Geographically, the town's position on the slopes of the Montmorency hills provides it with a distinct landscape compared to the flatter areas of the Paris basin. Today, Taverny is a highly desirable residential city, known for its green spaces, Belle Époque villas, and excellent amenities. It features a rich cultural life with venues like the 'Théâtre Madeleine-Renaud' and provides direct rail access to Paris Gare du Nord, making it a first-rate hub for suburban living with easy access to nature and metropolitan services.
