Bercy is a lively district in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, characterized by its dramatic transition from a historic wine trading hub to a modern administrative and leisure center. For over two centuries, Bercy was the site of the world's largest wine warehouses, where barrels from all over France arrived via the Seine. The redevelopment projects of the late 20th century preserved segments of this heritage while introducing landmark structures like the French Ministry of Finance, a brutalist masterpiece extending into the river, and the Accor Arena. The Parc de Bercy features 14 hectares of landscaped gardens, including ruins of the old wine cellars and a vineyard. The Cour Saint-Émilion, now known as Bercy Village, is a popular pedestrian shopping area housed in restored 19th-century storehouses. As a major transport hub with its own train station and the nearby Gare de Lyon, Bercy is a gateway to southern France and a key destination for culture, commerce, and sports in the French capital.
