Havana Cathedral (Cuba)

Weather…

Havana Cathedral, officially known as Catedral de la Virgen María de la Concepción Inmaculada, is one of the most distinctive religious structures in Latin America. Built between 1748 and 1777, the church is renowned for its unique Baroque facade, constructed using coral rock harvested from the ocean floor. The structure is characterized by its asymmetry, notably its two different bell towers; one is wider than the other to avoid obstructing traffic in the surrounding streets. The interior is designed in a neoclassical style and houses valuable paintings and sculptures, including works by Italian master Bianchini. Historically significant, the cathedral served as the resting place for the remains of Christopher Columbus from 1796 to 1898, before they were moved to Spain. The cathedral is located in the photogenic Plaza de la Catedral in Old Havana, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1982.
