💡 Tips
- Hike up to the Old Village (Stara Lokva) above the main road to experience authentic Dalmatian stone architecture.
- Visit the Church of St. Vitus (Sv. Vid) on the ridge for one of the most spectacular views of the Omiš Riviera.
- Find shade under the pine trees at Artina Beach, one of the most beautiful pebble beaches in the area.
- Attend the 'Fisherman's Night' in August for a local experience with grilled fish and regional wine.
- Be prepared for steep staircases connecting the upper village to the sea; comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
🍽 Food
A must-try in local taverns where the octopus is slow-cooked in its own juices under a metal bell.
Ask for wines produced from the steep slopes of the area, particularly the robust Plavac Mali variety.
Visit the seaside restaurants for fish delivered directly from the local fishermen every morning.
🛍 Shopping · 🧘 Quiet spots
In the Old Village (Stara Lokva), you can find producers selling their own wine (Domaće vino) directly.
Purchase cold-pressed oil directly from producers in the narrow streets of the upper village.
Away from the beach crowds, the old village features silence and a glimpse into traditional Dalmatian life.
The climb is demanding, but at the summit, you will find absolute peace among the rocky landscape.

Lokva Rogoznica is located between Omiš and Makarska on the slopes of the Biokovo massif. The settlement consists of two parts: the old village on the mountain, known for its vineyards and the historic Church of the Assumption, and the modern coastal section. The combination of steep mountains and azure sea makes this place visually spectacular. The beaches of Lokva Rogoznica, especially Artina beach, are considered some of the cleanest and most beautiful in the region, with natural shade from pine trees. A unique feature is the 'Vruja', a nearby underwater spring that provides exceptionally cool and clear water. The area is good for hikes to the peaks of Omiška Dinara or water sports in Omiš. Gastronomy here is dominated by viticulture and fishing. Proximty to the coastal road 'Magistrala' allows for easy access, while the hillside location guarantees peace.
