Wasaga Beach
Located at the southern end of Georgian Bay, Wasaga Beach is a major summer destination in Ontario, distinguished by its 14-kilometer stretch of white sand. This natural feature is recognized as the longest freshwater beach in the world. The town's primary draw is its extensive shoreline, which is divided into six distinct beach areas to accommodate different recreational uses. The shallow, warm waters of Nottawasaga Bay make it highly suitable for swimming and paddleboarding during the peak summer months. Beyond the immediate beachfront, Wasaga Beach Provincial Park protects sensitive dune ecosystems and provides over 50 kilometers of hiking trails through pine forests. The Nancy Island Historic Site interprets the naval events of the War of 1812 that occurred near the mouth of the Nottawasaga River. Winter transforms the area's extensive trail networks into routes for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.
