Sun Peaks
Sun Peaks in the interior of British Columbia has grown to become Canada's second-largest ski area. It features a massive terrain spread across three mountains: Tod, Sundance, and Morrisey. These peaks form a natural amphitheater around a pleasant, purpose-built, car-free village inspired by European alpine resorts. The resort's thoughtful layout provides true ski-in/ski-out access from almost all accommodations. The region benefits from a dry interior climate that consistently delivers light, dry powder snow. With 4,270 acres of skiable terrain, there are runs suited for every skill level, from gentle beginner slopes on Sundance Mountain to steep descents on Mount Tod. Off the slopes, visitors can enjoy dog sledding, snowshoeing, and ice skating. In the summer, the resort transitions into a premier mountain biking destination with a large downhill bike park. During the warmer months, the spectacular alpine wildflower meadows on Mount Tod also draw crowds of hikers. Sun Peaks is logistically convenient, situated just a 45-minute drive northeast of Kamloops Airport, eliminating the long, winding mountain drives typical of many other resorts. The best time for winter sports is from December to March. For summer activities, including downhill biking, hiking, and playing at British Columbia's highest elevation golf course, July through September features the most favorable weather.
