Revelstoke
Set deep in the Columbia Mountains, Revelstoke is an outdoor enthusiast's dream, known for having some of the most reliable and deep snowfall in the world. Originally a railway town from the 1880s, its historic downtown has preserved much of its heritage architecture, which now houses cozy cafes, outdoor gear shops, and local breweries that welcome adventurers after a long day in the mountains. In the winter, Revelstoke Mountain Resort is the main draw, boasting the greatest vertical drop of any ski resort in North America. Heli-skiing and cat-skiing are huge here, thanks to the legendary powder. When the snow melts, the region transforms into a summer paradise with the Mount Revelstoke National Park right on its doorstep, offering scenic drives up the Meadows in the Sky Parkway and extensive mountain biking networks. Located on the Trans-Canada Highway between Calgary and Vancouver, Revelstoke is a convenient road trip stop. Winter is the peak season for powder hounds, while July and August are the best times to experience the high alpine wildflowers and hiking trails.
