BUCECO Cement Plant (Burundi)

Weather…

BUCECO (Burundi Cement Company) is the first and only cement manufacturing plant in Burundi, located in Cibitoke in the northwestern part of the country. Commissioned in 2011, the factory represents a significant milestone in Burundi's pursuit of industrial independence within the construction sector. Prior to BUCECO's establishment, nearly all of the nation's cement requirements had to be imported at high costs from neighboring countries. The facility utilizes local limestone deposits and helps reduce overall construction costs, which is crucial for the country's ongoing infrastructure development. BUCECO produces high-quality Portland cement, used extensively for both major government projects and private residential housing. The plant is a vital employer in the Cibitoke region and fosters the training of local skilled labor in heavy industry. Through continuous investments in production capacity, the company strives to meet the growing demands of a developing Burundi.
