Arenbergkasteel

Arenbergkasteel, located in Heverlee near the Flemish city of Leuven, is a fascinating example of magnificent Renaissance architecture. The origins of the castle date back to the 14th century, but it acquired its current, characteristic appearance mostly during the 16th century under the influential de Croÿ family, and later the Arenberg family. The striking red brick facades, crowned by elegant onion-shaped domes, bear witness to the wealth of its former aristocratic residents.

Today, the castle is fully integrated into the Catholic University of Leuven (KU Leuven), serving as the vibrant heart of the campus for the Faculty of Engineering. Although the interior spaces are primarily used as lecture halls and university offices and are generally not open to the public, visitors are welcome to admire the impressive exterior and explore the expansive castle park. The park is a highly popular spot for relaxation among students and locals alike.
