The Bottom Bay Cliffs on the southeast coast of Barbados are among the island's most spectacular natural landmarks. These high cliffs, composed of pale coral limestone, rise steeply above the Atlantic Ocean, framing an easy on the eye, crescent-shaped bay below. The striking contrast between the bright white rock, the turquoise sea, and the lush green coconut palms on the beach makes this one of the most photographed locations in Barbados. From the clifftops, visitors can enjoy expansive views over the ocean and often spot sea turtles swimming in the clear waters below. The surf here is typically very strong, as the Atlantic waters hit the coast directly, which often makes swimming dangerous but adds to the dramatic visual appeal of the site. A walk along the cliffside paths gives panoramic vistas and the chance to experience the wild, untamed beauty of the Barbadian coastline, well away from the busier tourist centers of the west coast.
