The Basilica of Our Lady of Luján is an impressive Neo-Gothic Catholic church located about 70 kilometers west of Buenos Aires. It is dedicated to the Virgin of Luján, the patroness of Argentina, whose small terracotta statue has been venerated as miraculous since the 17th century. Construction of the current basilica began in 1887 under the direction of architect Ulrich Courtois and was not fully completed until 1935. With its two 106-meter-high spires, it is visible from a great distance and stands as one of the most significant examples of ecclesiastical architecture in Argentina. Every year, the city of Luján welcomes millions of pilgrims, particularly during the major youth pilgrimage in October. The interior of the church is renowned for its magnificent stained-glass windows and numerous chapels dedicated to various provinces and nations, reflecting deep religious devotion.
