Zion Springdale
Springdale sits at the doorstep of Zion National Park, surrounded by some of the most spectacular red rock scenery in the American West. Visitors are drawn to the town for its world-class hiking, including the legendary Angels Landing and the iconic water-walk through The Narrows. Despite its popularity, Springdale maintains a welcoming, small-town feel with pedestrian-friendly streets, local art galleries, and boutique lodges. The natural environment is defined by the soaring cliffs of the Zion Canyon and the Virgin River, which winds its way through the valley. Outdoor recreation is the primary draw, but the town also has a sophisticated dining scene featuring everything from casual Southwestern grills to high-end farm-to-table restaurants. To manage traffic, an excellent seasonal shuttle system runs through the town and into the park's main scenic drive. Most travelers arrive by car from Las Vegas or Salt Lake City via the scenic Highway 9. The best times to visit are spring and autumn, when temperatures are moderate and the foliage provides a remarkable contrast to the red cliffs. Summer is handy for hiking the Narrows to escape the heat, though the town is most crowded during this period. Winter provides a peaceful, snow-dusted perspective of the canyon for those seeking solitude.
