Carrabelle is located on the Gulf of Mexico in the Florida Panhandle and is the gateway to the 'Forgotten Coast.' The town has preserved its authentic charm as a working waterfront and is world-famous for the 'world's smallest police station', a converted telephone booth. Here, the pace of life is slower, and visitors can experience the real Florida far from the tourist crowds. The region's beaches are known for their natural beauty. Carrabelle Beach features fine white sand and shallow water, making it good for families. The Sugar Hill Beach Area and East Slough Beach Area are quieter stretches well-suited for beachcombing and nature watching. The nearby Crooked River Lighthouse also gives historic insight and fantastic views over St. George Sound. In Carrabelle, everything revolves around the catch of the day. In harbor cafes and restaurants, guests can enjoy fresh local oysters, shrimp, and the famous grouper. The town is a convenient starting point for boat trips to Dog Island or deep-sea fishing excursions. Access is via Highway 98, one of the most scenic coastal roads in the United States.
