Mesaieed, located on the southeast coast of Qatar, is a city synonymous with the country's industrialization. Founded in the mid-20th century, it quickly developed into a major center for the oil and gas industry. The city is home to one of the country's largest industrial ports, as well as numerous refineries, petrochemical plants, and steel mills. Economic activity is managed by QatarEnergy. Beyond industry, Mesaieed is also known for its remarkable nature. The city is the gateway to the 'Inland Sea' (Khor Al Adaid), a unique UNESCO-protected lagoon surrounded by high sand dunes. The 'singing dunes' of Mesaieed, which produce a deep humming sound when moved, are another natural attraction, drawing tourists and locals for desert safaris and camping.
