Alamo Battlefield (Mexico) (Mexico)

Weather…

The Alamo Battlefield, located in present-day San Antonio, was the site of a pivotal siege during the Texas Revolution in 1836, when the region was still Mexican territory. From February 23 to March 6, 1836, a Mexican army led by General Antonio López de Santa Anna besieged the former mission station held by Texan volunteers. The conflict ended with the near-total loss of the garrison, including famous figures such as James Bowie and Davy Crockett. For Mexico at the time, the victory was an assertion of national authority over separatist movements, while for Texans, it became a rallying cry for independence. The original compound consisted of a mission church and a large enclosed courtyard protected by adobe walls. Today, the Alamo serves as a historic site and museum documenting the complex history of the region. In 2015, it was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site as part of the San Antonio Missions.
