Aktobe Ferroalloy Plant (Kazakhstan)

Weather…

The Aktobe Ferroalloy Plant is a world-leading center for the production of chromium alloys and belongs to the Kazchrome concern, part of the Eurasian Resources Group (ERG). The plant was founded back in 1943 during World War II to supply the defense industry with strategically important alloys. Today, it is one of Kazakhstan's most modern metallurgical facilities, particularly following the opening of the state-of-the-art smelting shop No. 4 in 2014. This new facility utilizes innovative direct-current arc furnaces that allow for more efficient processing of fine chrome ore. The plant processes raw materials from the nearby Donskoy mine and produces ferrochrome in various grades. These alloys are indispensable for global stainless steel production. Aktobe is also characterized by a strong commitment to ecological sustainability, employing filtration systems for dust extraction and recycling production waste. The plant is the largest employer in the city of Aktobe and an engine for regional development.
