Ariel Sharon Park (Israel)

Weather…

Ariel Sharon Park is one of the world's largest environmental rehabilitation projects, located on the outskirts of the Tel Aviv metropolitan area. The centerpiece of the park is the former Hiriya landfill, which served as the country's main waste disposal site between 1952 and 1998 and has now been transformed into a green oasis. The vast area covers approximately 800 hectares, offering hiking trails, cycling paths, and observation points with panoramic views of the Tel Aviv skyline. Visitors can tour the modern recycling center, where innovative methods for waste processing and energy production are demonstrated. The park serves as a global model for ecological restoration, showing how a former environmental hazard can be converted into a valuable recreational space. Large artificial lakes and newly planted forests provide habitats for numerous bird species and other wildlife. Named after the late Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, the park is a symbol of Israel's environmental consciousness and sustainable urban planning.
