An-Nur Great Mosque (Indonesia)

Weather…

The An-Nur Great Mosque in Pekanbaru, the capital of Riau province, is one of Indonesia's most prominent Islamic landmarks. Construction on the site began in 1963 and was completed in 1968, followed by a massive renovation between 2000 and 2002 that significantly expanded its capacity. The architectural style is a sophisticated blend of Indonesian, Malay, Turkish, and Indian influences, which has led many to refer to it as the Taj Mahal of Riau. It features a large main dome accompanied by four smaller corner domes and several minarets that define its silhouette against the city skyline. The mosque's interior is spread across three floors, capable of accommodating approximately 4,500 worshippers at once. Surrounding the main structure is a 12.6-hectare complex featuring a large reflecting pool and lush green gardens. Beyond its primary role as a place of worship, An-Nur serves as a hub for education and social activities in the Sumatran city.
