The Carías Bridge in Tegucigalpa is one of the most significant infrastructure projects from the 1930s in Honduras. Named after then-President Tiburcio Carías Andino, the bridge was constructed between 1933 and 1935 to more efficiently connect the capital, Tegucigalpa, with its sister city, Comayagüela, across the Choluteca River. The structure is renowned for its robust local stone construction and elegant arched architecture, which has withstood the test of time and numerous natural disasters. At the time of its inauguration, it was viewed as a symbol of the country's progress and modernization under the administration of the era. The bridge remains a central component of the city's urban transportation system and is an integral part of its historical heritage. Its monumental appearance makes it a favorite subject for photographers and history enthusiasts exploring the capital.
