💡 Tips
- Always wear water shoes at Mavra Volia beach as the black volcanic stones get extremely hot in the sun.
- It is strictly illegal to take any black pebbles from the beach; authorities may issue heavy fines.
- If the beach parking lot is full, park at the Emporeios harbor and enjoy the short 5-minute walk.
- Bring your own shade and plenty of water, as the beach is unorganized with no natural shelter.

Once an ancient trading port, the village today is a tranquil retreat characterized by its whitewashed houses, photogenic harbor, and scenic coastal landscapes. Visitors are drawn to its relaxed pace of life, making it a well-suited spot for those looking to escape the bustling tourist crowds and immerse themselves in a serene Mediterranean environment. The main highlight of Emporeios is undeniably its extraordinary coastline, shaped by past volcanic activity. The morning begins on the coast, where the black pebbles glisten dramatically in the rain. Seek shelter under the harbor's awnings if the showers become too heavy. At noon, we ascend towards the old watchtowers. The paths are stony and can be slippery when wet, so careful steps and waterproof footwear are essential on the misty hillside. In the afternoon, we explore the ancient ruins. The stones tell a mystical story in the rain, while the low-hanging clouds over Emporio create a uniquely melancholic atmosphere. The evening winds down at the harbor, where the sound of rain hitting the sea provides a calming end. The illuminated ruins stand out sharply in the damp air as night falls.

The morning on the bike starts cautiously along the coast. Slippery roads require full concentration as we brave the first rain showers. At noon, we cycle inland toward the watchtowers. The climbs are more challenging on wet surfaces, so we use small shelters for short dry breaks. In the afternoon, we continue toward the ancient city and Komi Beach. The wind whips the rain across the open fields, turning the ride into a true adventure. By evening, we reach our destination tired but satisfied. A warm place to dry our clothes is now the top priority while we reflect on the day's events.
